... I mean it is intended for the schools. Phil says,
Doesn't the money need to go towards education?Bold emphasis mine. That is a correct intrepretation of the grant and it's use.
Technically, no, it can be used for anything however the spirit of the grant is to be used for education or educationally related purposes.
Since it is now clear the money will be given to the Town and not the schools to be spent on educational purposes, thank you Phil by the way, will the Select Board work with the school administration cooperatively to see the money is put to the most effective educational purpose?

Once again, the SB and SC meetings coincide according to this week's meeting schedule. Is this an error, or are the SC meetings back to being held on Monday nights? What a shame the SC sees fit to do so, if it is not an error. It sounded like different days were workable, although it did seem Mr. McDonald was reluctant to continue on different days.
ReplyDeleteAnon 2:05 - the meetings for the next couple months switch for the SC between Mon and Tuesdays. The schedule is on Phil Lenz's site. SC discussed this last meeting - there are scheduling conflicts that preclude some SC members from meeting on Tuesdays consistently so this compromise schedule has been established for the next couple of months.
ReplyDeleteLike everything else its about compromises and so far the SC has shown some flexibility on scheduling their meetings so people can attend some of both groups.
The meetings are back to mondays for October due to problems scheduling with several SC members. The meeting dates are on the website www.voteforlenz.com thru the beginning of January 2009
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anonymous and Phil, for the information. It's important that those who want to attend both meetings be able to do so, so it is appreciated when they are able to.

I think it would be a real shame if the pothole money earmarked for educational purposes gets hijacked for anything else.
ReplyDeleteThat would also change attitudes about anyone fighting for us getting pothole money for anything in the future.
Bill, Has this money been sent Dartmouth's way yet? Any further discussion about how to allocate it assuming it does not get swallowed up by the State's issues?
