  5. I think the Select Board, FinCom, and School Committee are three vital entities that all should be televised. To leave the FinCom out of the loop is to leave the town residents out of the loop as well.

How much easier might it be for Town Meeting members to hear the questions, answers, and information put forth at the FinCom meetings before they go to vote? Watching the process step-by-step and listening to the various opinions and explanations is invaluable, I would think, to cast an educated vote.

We would know how and where and why our taxes are being spent the way they are.

Televising the meetings lends itself to the transparency in government we have all been wanting.

  6. Yes but some on the Fin Comm don't think he could speak as candidly as they do if it was televised.

  7. Simple answer... get off the damn couch and actually go to the meeting!!!!!!!!!

  8. Why would they be afraid to speak honestly on tv? All the other boards must speak honestly? Hmmm.. better question the motives??

  9. I believe that all committees should be taped and televised. Fin com is getting very political. One guy should be thrown out. He could never get elected to a public office except for TMM so now he has found his little nitch where he tries to voice his agenda. Big phony.

NICE!! you must be the one on the fin comm that doesn't want it on DCTV...do you feel the same way about the SC and SB? get off the damn couch? Put it on the DAMN TV for those who cant get to the meeting, you know...fin comm only wants to meet once a week when in the past they met 2 and 3 times a week during the weeks prior to town meeting

  11. by the way...what was the outcome of this meeting? does anybody have an answer?

  12. Not at all. why depend on hersay and rumor and misinformation. you have a question or concern dont go here go to the MEETING and ask.

  13. Oh, please. What a petty thing to argue about. Is that all you feel is important?

Who does it hurt if it is televised? Who cares why someone wants it televised or who will watch it or who will go to the meeting?

The point is, that valuable information will be broadcast.

  14. What is the problem with it being on TV? DCTV is Dartmouth's C-SPAN. What is your problem with it being on TV?

  15. I dont have a problem with it. they discussed wiring another room in future awhile back why not! but thats still no excuse to not attend the meetings if your as interested in them as you claim to be.

  16. open government, transparency, with the exception for the fin comm...

  17. DCTV has been asked if they would film FinCom. So far it hasn't happened. I wouldn't blame FinCom for that, nor even DCTV. I'm sure it has nothing to do with transparency, so why would you say that?

  18. Don't lie. No they have not.

  19. Gregory Lynam and Peter Freidman should speak out about this. They should know why Fin Comm isnt on TV. Maybe they can put in a word to the people responsible, it isnt that hard to tape a Fin Comm meeting, they do it all the time for the schools, they even had the Barney Frank meeting taped. It isnt that complex.

  20. My apologies to DCTV. I should have explained: They were asked; the answer was that logistics didn't make it feasible in room 315.

Let me emphasize: It was NOT DCTV's decision that FinCom wasn't televised. It was the circumstances behind their being able to do so or not.

There is no fault or blame to be laid on DCTV or anyone else. It just hasn't happened yet. It would be ideal if FinCom were televised. It's just not feasible.

Sorry if I left the impression that DCTV or anyone were "to blame."
