Bylaw change yields results

Changing the parking requirements for businesses in the Padanaram Village business district seems to have had immediate results. The Select Board will hold a public hearing on June 7th on an application for a restaurant/alcohol license for the Boatyard Pub and Grille to be established at 250 Elm Street.
Residents who wish to comment on the application ...

... should attend the Select Board meeting. Parking requirements are often an impediment to reopening businesses in older, more densely built areas. Relaxing the requirements seems to have worked. What do you think?

This is great news! It seems that the market/rest. on Bridge St. has a long way to go before it opens for business. Boaters will appreciate another restaurant near the yacht club. I hopes it will be open before the end of the season.

The village is a nice place to visit but parking is the problem, not businesses. It would've seemed nice if the village people bought the old market place buildings and had a bulldozer turned the location into a large parking lot. While do the boat people need another restaurant? It is so nice to travel over the bridge and not have to stop for double parked trucks and village people just walking out from between parked cars. Isn't it a law to cross at the intersection/crosswalk? Where are the padanaram police when you need them.
It's no secret the selectmen are attempting to have a full time police officer walking a beat at the village between 8:AM and midnight. The officers will be allowed to share the harbor masters building just next door to Tripps. I would think the selectmen would have another police patrol along the Dartmouth/ New Bedford line between Rockdale Avenue, Blue field projects, along Cove Road to Rogers Street, to keep an eye on those South Dartmouth house breakers froming in from New Bedford.

Parking in the village is no longer a problem, now that town meeting passed a bylaw for no parking restrictions for the village. This was suppose to encourage businesses that felt parking would be a challenge. People will park on the street and any other available spots. I'm sure this reataurant will have some parking, but overflow will park on the street.

Wow Bill you're missing a big news item. Did you hear the teachers have been picketing out in front of the schools because they don't have a contract. Gee I wonder why, could it be because they want more money? Hello teacher union let's wake up and join the real world because in this economy you should be appreciative your teachers even have jobs!

How about a new topic post Bill because I for one would like to hear what other people think about this.

Bill Trimble,

Thank you for being one of our selectman. I agree with how you have handled many town issues, but the police chief's harbor patrol took the wind out many sails. No pun intended. I've been a long time political analyst for many people and in all my years of analyzing, I've come to the conclusion that YOU are not political.
This past Monday night, when it came to the marine patrol, you gave your best performance. Your direct question to the chief; I don't understand why you are here? We appointed you as our police chief and you're responsible for protecting the whole town. One of your members wanted to make a motion and you stated, we don't need a motion. The chief is doing what we hired him to do, protect the town as needed.
I sure hope you run for re-election.
