Please shovel your sidewalk

The Standard Times has this article about the intention of the town to begin enforcement of the ordinance requiring home owners to clear snow and ice from the sidewalk in front of their home.
No one really wants to fine anyone. Just clear your walk after a storm. If your neighbor needs help, clear their walk too. Good karma, bro.

The sidewalk is a public way owned by the town. The road in front of my house is a public way owned by the town. The road is plowed by the town employee's and the sidewalks should be plowed by the town employee's. The town may have a by-law that reguires the home owner to remove the snow from the sidewalk but it's not a legal by-law. See you in court. Have you noticed that the town employee's who remove the snow from a public road, pushes the snow onto the sidewalks and driveways.

In the cities where I have lived, the homeowners are always responsible for the sidewalk in front of their home. They sweep it and pick up any litter. It's not a big deal folks!

Did you know we have a by law prohibiting spitting on a sidewalk, or a public way. Several times while watching a DHS basketball game I see the players spitting on the gym floor.

c'mon Bill. Screw everyone else it's really all about me and I don't want to shovel. Matter of fact, I'm gonna keep that 'ole heap in the front yard on blocks next to the trailer. My place don't gove a (&** about the rest of you
