Capital improvement plan

A draft of the 2010 five year capital improvement plan was presented to the Select Board last night. Mr. Iacaponi went over it briefly. The public is always at a disadvantage when this sort of thing is presented because you do not have the same information as we are seeing in front of us. I hope that some day everything that is in our packet will be available to you at the same time ...

... via the town website.
The draft plan has not been vetted by the Finance Committee as yet and will probably change significantly before Town Meeting. That said you can find the plan in MS Excel format at this link

Bill, I know this has nothing to do with this subject but would like to know what is the latest with the Tax Payers suit against the town. Have they withdrawn?

Nice to see according to the document, the schools and disabled get nothing.

It is nice to see the school getting nothing since right now they are making the town spend money to relocate DCTV for no good reason. The school enrollment is going down not up so the bs that they need the space is just that. I like to know what really is going on here but no one will talk about it.
As far as the disabled I think they should get in line like everyone else. There are projects that have been on this list for years and while I know these issues have also been around for years no one brought it up in an official group until a few months ago so how is it far to the other groups that have been waiting their turn to not get funded because of new issues. The town will get to these repairs soon now that they are on the list.

What you dont understand is the ADA was passed 18 years ago. Dartmouth has been in violation for 18 years! violation of the law. not a case of this or that would be nice or we need our parking lot resurfaced. Dartmouth is violating federal law by not making these changes.

I have always wondered, suspecting that Dartmouth was in violation, why was nothing ever done about it on the state level a long time ago? I thought all public buildings had to be in compliance by a certain date (years ago) or face fines?

Every so often you read of a building or store not in compliance that is given a certain amount of time to get up to speed or be fined.

Someone needs to file a complaint with the US dept of Justice in Washington. Its not a state thing its federal with federal justisdictions. Its all on their website

Thank you. I recognized it as being on a federal level, just didn't know if the states had any say in it, or enforcing it.

Lara Stone is a puppet for the John Farm machine. If elected, you can bet the farm, on Stone calling for the return of Gagne, and more overrides. Go back in time, remember all the so called Gagne supporters who attended the SB meeting in support of Gagne. Bill Mossher, Bob Miller, and a few other no name people. These are all former SB members. Miller/George were the two SB members who nominated Gagne for the job that he wasn't qualified to do. 22 Years is a long time ago, but we the people didn't forget. I beg the new voters to take note and listen to the people of long ago. Don't be cool aid drinkers.

Why was nothing ever done? That question should be posed to Michael Gagne and former Select Boards. Dartmouth was raking in the revenue for years but nothing was ever done with our infrastructure. Instead it was spent on salaries and positions. Now the revenue has slowed to relatively nothing and we have no money for capital improvements.

Speaking of salaries. I read that the the salary for the new EA could be around $120,000.00 Where are the savings here for a new hire?

Anonymous said...

Apparently, none. Mr. Gagne was making around that when he had to leave, give or take.

Even if it is for the experience he/she will bring to the job, and the degree(s), the town should know better, and, for that matter, so should the applicant for the position. If he/she needs a job, then the money should not be THE issue here, as long as it is not, obviously, considerably below what should be appropriate, given these financial times. If he/she doesn't like it, move on.

Same for any here in town, already. If you are fortunate enough to get a contract, and don't like it, move on. There are many, many others who would give their eye teeth just to have a job, let alone one with a contract and the salaries Dartmouth still seems willing to pay.

Just my opinion.

But where are the promised savings?
Or is all the talk about life-time contracts and the financial drain on our community just talk. If we have to replace the person with the lifetime contract and pay the same amount for someone new + lawsuits, How are we better off? having someone with no experience in Dartmouth running a dept they know nothing about costing the same instead of experienced people in positions that require experience. I dont support life time contracts but isnt that what the unions have? with the exception theyre not the lead dog?

I am posting in response to "Don't be cool aid drinkers." I didn't attend that Michael Gagne hearing, didn't take part in the vigil at Town Hall, and don't support rehiring him. Lara Stone didn't attend the hearing or the vigil, either. And she doesn't favor rehiring Mr. Gagne either, despite innuendos, suggestions or "dot connecting" to the contrary. Please stick to the facts. I'm voting proudly for Lara Stone.

I've never heard Lara Stone come out and say she does not support the re-hiring of Michael Gagne. Until I hear her own words, I think otherwise.
I will be voting for Diane Gilbert because I KNOW WHERE DIANE STANDS ON EVERY ISSUE.

Then you agree out and out lying to maintain political office is acceptable to you.
