Police department employs web and cell notification system

You can receive email or cell phone notifications about community alerts and advisories from the Dartmouth Police Department by going to the Nixle website and registering as a subscriber. Just put in your information and it will automatically send you the updates as they are entered.

Another example of the innovative use of technology. Should other departments use this service too? What do you think? Is it an effective tool?

Chief Pacheco, has do an excellent performance, bringing the town police department into the twenty first century. Oops, Chief Mark Pacheco came up through the ranks; no qualified candidates for deputy chief, I don'tagree with the selectmen or the qualification standards.
Town meeting, with the approval of the board of selectmen, petition the state to remove civil service protection for the Chief /deputy chief. In the past, the Dartmouth police Brotherhood members, would never had allowed this to happen.
I've had the opportunity to meet several policeman/women. Sergeant Robert Szala, detective supervisor, masters degree in law enforcement, director and supervisor of detective devision. Submits annual department budget reports, leadership qualities, excellent police officer, with great communication skills, and a true knowledge of our town. Sergeant Szala was not not considered by the select committee.
Sergeant Szala should have been given the opportunity to participate in the assessment center.
Shame on you!.........David Faria
