I hope we can start promptly at 7 p.m.
Congrats to Mike Watson and Bill Trimble for opposing a revolving account for the park board. I am in complete agreement with Mr. Watson's view that it creates a burden on those depts. which cannot create revenue. I also believe that any revenue brought into the town should be used wherever needed. Ms. Stone's view was that there are already other depts. which have these accounts so why not? One must consider that enterprise funds like sewer and water are not paid for by all taxpayers so it is only fair that those monies be used for that service only. Dartmouth does not need any more little fiefdoms. The waterways commission is a perfect example of why Dartmouth should not allow this.
Bill , You call yourself a democrat? You are a puppet to Michaud
Were you in the military We know what lynam was just like bush AFR, and now he gets meds for free as a va? he should be ashamed of himself. Gary would roll over in his grave. Mr. Porter would kick your ass Greg

Keep buying those flags from china, yes sir, so they can make more bombs to threaten us with.. Free Market, Same way Saudi oil money funds terrorist's FREE MARKET!!! Flawed thinking Dartmouth!! SHAME SHAME!!
BEIJING, Friday, July 15 - China should use nuclear weapons against the United States if the American military intervenes in any conflict over Taiwan, a senior Chinese military official said Thursday.
"If the Americans draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on China's territory, I think we will have to respond with nuclear weapons," the official, Maj. Gen. Zhu Chenghu, said at an official briefing.
General Zhu, considered a hawk, stressed that his comments reflected his personal views and not official policy. Beijing has long insisted that it will not initiate the use of nuclear weapons in any conflict.
But in extensive comments to a visiting delegation of correspondents based in Hong Kong, General Zhu said he believed that the Chinese government was under internal pressure to change its "no first use" policy and to make clear that it would employ the most powerful weapons at its disposal to defend its claim over Taiwan.
"War logic" dictates that a weaker power needs to use maximum efforts to defeat a stronger rival, he said, speaking in fluent English. "We have no capability to fight a conventional war against the United States," General Zhu said. "We can't win this kind of war."
I'd like to thank all those town meeting members who voted in favor of the Democratic Town Committee Flag By-law. Your vote was crucial since it was such a close vote only 59% win.
Barry walker Draft dodger
83 opposed . Are you people on drugs?
Things that make you go hmmmmm... The equipment used by our military is not even U.S MADE.
" The AT-4 84mm anti-tank rocket is a Swedish design.
A new addition to the U.S. inventory will be a helicopter that will replace the venerable Sikorsky-built VH3. The new VH-71, which will be used to carry the president, will be derived from the airworthy-proven, European-built, AgustaWestland EH101.
The Defense Department, long accused of being too cozy with U.S. defense contractors, has opted to replace the aging C-135 aerial tanker fleet with a European Airbus-derivative instead of going with Boeing, which has traditionally build most of the U.S. aerial tankers. But even Boeing's offer was deceptive because the Boeing design was not really "made in America" as many of its components, like the wings, were to be imported from foreign partner suppliers.
The popular M-240 7.62mm light machine gun, used throughout the U.S. Army, replacing the Vietnam-era M-60 (which was based on a German design) and the Browning .30 caliber machine guns, is a Belgian-built weapon.
The new attack fighter the F-35, still in development, will be built by a coalition of contractors, foreign and domestic.
The U.S. Navy's new littoral combat vessels and high-speed cargo vessels have been based on an Australian design.
During the Persian Gulf War and the Iraq war most of the war materials were carried in chartered foreign-flag ships rather than U.S. merchantmen because the U.S. merchant fleet essentially no longer exists, replaced by ships flying "flags of convenience" in order to evade the costly regulations imposed on the American fleet."

Our own government wouldn't even fly our flag nevermind where it was made...because it COST too much?? WOW.
Thank you Ray!!!!! On top of a great by-law you also revealed people in our town that can not see beyond an ideology.
and your ok with that Stephen? I think its pathetic!!
I can not believe Bill Trimble and Joe Michaud voted AGAINST the by-law sooo proudly, like little school children that know the answer with hands pin straight in the air, in arrogance.
Some of us believe in free trade. If there were a U.S. flag made in Iran or Iraq flying in this country in 20 years that would mean that we were at peace with those countries and that their people were engaging in free trade. A good thing.
Just because you may not agree with me, doesn't make you a bad person.
Boy, Saul & Ray have been quite busy on this post. 10:29 p.m., 10:31 p.m., 6:29 a.m., 6:41 a.m., 6:44 a.m., 7:01 a.m., 7:04 a.m., 7:38 a.m. Talk about pathetic.
hey 7:53, What is your problem with Ray and Saul? You seem obsessed. We all have a feeeling on who you are, your either from the CFRG or an elected official. We all know the head of the CFRG(Barry Walker) does not like Ray or Saul for whatever reason or it could be an elected puppet of Barry or James Demello, take your pick, they are both poison
After careful thought on this, our finance com. voted not to endorse this. Peter and Greg spoke out not to endorse this. Why? This is not just about buying flags made in U.S. There is a bigger picture but most people have bought into the idea that if you don't fly a flag, you are not good patriots. Hogwash!
I'm sticking with my finance com.
I served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. I was not in theater. Mr. Michaud still serves as an officer in the Army Reserve.
I had considered voting for the flag article but the final argument by Mr. Medeiros changed my mind. He said that it would be an affront to veterans if the flag flying in town was made in Iraq or Afghanistan. Hold on, wouldn't that be a good thing? I thought we wanted friendly relations with those two countries. Why would we harbor hard feelings against them?
China, our largest trading partner, is unlikely to go to war with us. It is certainly in their interests to be on good relations with us and us with them, don't you think?
I voted for the flag by-law, but it was somewhat in spite of Mr. Medeiros and his reference to Iraq, etc. I voted for it because I want this most precious symbol of OUR country to be produced in OUR country. It is not about the other country...it is about the United States.
Bill, so you changed your view on the principle of the article based on a misstatement of Mr. Medeiros.
What about his original statement which he said, our flags are being made in a country that prohibits the freedoms our flag represents, like freedom of speech and press.
You speak of vietnam veterans, THIS COUNTRY FOUGHT AGAINST COMMUNISM and you and MICHAUD support buying OUR FLAG form a communist STATE
I believe our servicemen and women fought and sacrificed their lives for us to have freedom of choice, whether that is contrary to our neighbors' or not.
I believe someone stated just that, last evening, although perhaps not in those exact words.
Does China or a "FREE" Afghanistan fly an American made Chinese or Afghan flag? the answer is NO
I guess my final statement was received differently than I intended for it to come across. I was speaking in accordance to the situation in Afghanistan as it stands today, even though I said in 20-30 years. A better statement and one that I truly believe is in conjunction with my opening remarks , how would everybody feel if our servicemen, that have given the ultimate sacrifice came home in a coffin draped in an American flag "made in China".
Hey Bill 9:35, When did you join the O'Bama team? apostrophe deliberate. And I'm not Ray or Saul
Ray, Evweryone knows what you meant. .We are in a war with Iraq they have killed one of our own When his son comes to visit in twenty years he doesn't care if we are at peace He will look at a label because of last night's Town Meeting claiming that his dad did not die in vain. I cannot believe how hippocritical these conservatives are. Bill you and greg took the easy way out.
In twenty years let's fly a flag on top of the new World trade center Made in afghanistan. Boy I'm worried about this country with you moronic conservatives. Silver spoon Barry Walker.
While Ray was doing his reading,
in the back of the dirty book store
A plastic flag with gum on the back, fell out on the floor.
Well he picked it up, ran outside and slapped it on his window shield
And if he could have seen old Betsy Ross, he'ld atold her how good he feels.
Ray went to the store this morning, and the cashier said you see,
if you sign up for a grocery card, you'll get ten of those flags for free.
Ray didn't mess around abit, he took her up on what she said.
He stuck those stickers all over his car and one on his wife's forehead.
Well he got his windshield so full of flags he couldn't see.
So he ran his car upside a curb and right into a tree.
Ray's flag decals can't get him into office anymore.
There's already two guys on the board who actually did their tour.
RAY, I bet your tiny little mind will NEVER be able to understand why the vast majority of actual veterans on stage last night opposed your article.
Credit:poem derived from John Prine lyrics
In 20 or 30 years, people are going to look at labels???
I hardly think when a serviceman or woman loses his or her life, anyone is going to be concerned with labels, and that's even 20 or 30 years later.
There's someone's loved one, family member, friend, coworker, neighbor, classmate, that will never return. THAT"S what people are thinking of.
Neither the Afghans or Iraqis attacked us. We attacked them! Don't tell me 9/11. Not an Afghan or Iraqi among them. 14 of 19 from Saudi Arabia. Yankee come home!
The Town Meeting approved the article and it's done. I won't debate my patriotism with people who know nothing about me. Those who scream the loudest are the first to get someone else to go when the chips are down in my experience. The whole debate is stupid. Who is more patriotic, a wounded war vet or a reservist who skipped out on his service?
but Bill, why did you flip flop on the article, isn't the principle the same regardless of statements? I am not questioning your patriotism just wondering why you changed your mind.
Every time I think about this, I have to giggle. Saul, even when he gets what he wants, is still a very angry, bitter man. Saul it's okay to celebrate a victory. Try enjoying it instead of posting more of your trash.
@Popcorn, that wasn"t nice(smirk). Ray was just trying to be a good "patriot".
Ray!!! To tell you the truth I dont give a flying crap about where our flag is made and who makes it. Lynam Freidman, and the rest of the FIN COMM, Trimble and Michaud had the balls to stand up to you and your stupid little antics.
Did the Dartmouth Democratic Committee take a formal vote on this topic prior to Mr. Medeiros putting his sponsorship name to it with his Chairman title? If so, does anyone know the outcome? Were there members of that committee who voted against it as well or was the board unanimous or was he a stand alone in his sponsorship of this article? The way the article reads it gives the perception that it was from the Dartmouth Democratic Committee. I would argue since the theme of article was "symbolic in nature" why didn't Mr. Medeiros reach out for partisanship and have a Republican and an Independent in town co-sponsor this article? Should we question his motives, judgment and potential lack of leadership with that decision? I'm all for folks expressing their views. In fact each side had some great talking points and debated it well... to a point. It was a shame however when proponents for the article tried to gain leverage by creating the vibe that if folks voted against this article that they were not patriotic. I expect better from my fellow residents next time.
Ray is a hack liberal, what else do you expect from a democrat and his committee.
Why did the Fin Comm weigh in on a NON FINANCIAL issue. Was it a power grab? I think the town should re think the job description of this committee. i wonder if other Finance committees in state and federal government weigh in on NON FINANCIAL issues, probably not, they have more important things to worry about. LIKE FINANCES...FIN COMM stay out of policy!!!
you know what is SAD, that the opponents on the FIN COM had to DEFEND their patriotism before they explained why we shouldn't vote for the taxes of the town to purchase AMERICAN MADE FLAGS
Yes we took a formal vote and it passed unanimously. As for asking Republicans to co sponsor, that didn't even cross our minds, Ray brought this before the committee because he noticed that many other states and cities were enacting similar laws and he thought it was a good idea and he asked if the committee would like to get behind it.
have Saul or Ray-Ray ever served? I mean REALLY served in the military? Where do they get the right to lecture those who HAVE served on patriotism. Let us remember the words of Samuel Johnson who stated quite eloquently that, "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel"
Keep that in mind Ray-Ray and Saul before you two blown-dried dodgers go lecturing ANYONE who has served on their patriotism.
What a couple of clowns!!
FinCom had every right to weigh in on this issue. If you read their recommendation sheet, it clearly stated that this by-law will put more of a burden on our already short-handed staff.
Why does Mr. Medeiros post his thoughts, and then routinely delete them?
To anonymous 10/21, 10:30 pm. Ray's Dad proudly served and I know is proud of him. That should be enough. And not like Bush who joined the reserves and deserted. then turned himself in.
to anon 10/23 9:43...Why did you post anonymously, what does it matter! it is obvious your just trying to slander Ray anyway you can, probably because you heard a "rumor"
3:50pm....BUsh is gone, let it go! Will we still be talking about Bush when Obama is defeated in 2012?
Frank1
Please stop talking about turbines on every post. Bill, please consider a post on turbines which will allow Frank1 to argue on. My guess, before long, he will realize he is only arguing with himself. This way we can discuss the issues on the current post.
Bush maybe gone, but his MESS is still here. I find it curious that the republicans in this town want everyone to forget about THIS past president but bring up their savior RONNIE when ever they can. Please you bunch of hypocrits
I don't bring up "ronnie". I live in the present. The present is Obama. Yes, economic downturns caused by the bursting of the housing market presented great challenges. Don't blame one president or one congress.
Jack: Quite honestly, I think Anonymous 10/23, 9:43 has asked a reasonable question. It is rather interesting that Ray posts so much, and then deletes as many as he does, and he is just about the only one, with the exception of a few other times, that anyone has deleted a post.
Why do you even suggest that Anonymous is trying to slander Ray? I can't see how asking a simple question is slander.
Why does he delete so many of them, anyway??? Curious minds want to know.
Does it really matter? No, but it is an interesting question one could reasonably be expected to think or ask.
oct 25, 7:32 Tell that to the 4,000 plus moms and dads who will never see their child again because of what bush started.
I dont see that possible unless the republicans can get someone formiddable to run in 2012.
I have seen many more important questions not answered when directed to elected officials not receive an answer. In example..10/21 10:44, but this blog concentrates on Ray because he's not part of this clique blog, anonymous posts are not as anonymous as you think they are
Ray's posts are why people concentrate on Ray, not because he isn't "part of this clique blog," whatever that means.
Ray himself said he likes to debate, so one can logically assume that is what fuels some of his many postings. If others take him up on his debate, how is that in any way "concentrating on Ray"?
Anon. 10:42, and just what great things has Obama done for us?
Oh, no, no. Have I just encouraged another Ray debate?
10 MONTHS, you conservatives here in Dartmouth expect miracles...by this time in Bush's first term he gave out a trillion in tax cuts to the top 1% and took a month long vacation. I have seen and heard it all, bumper stickers already claiming he destroyed the ECONOMY, please put a cork in it. Eight years of Bush and you want Obama to fix all his mistakes in ten months. Get over yourselves
Not expecting miracles, but I find it interesting that some of my friends who couldn't get enough of the saviour have now completely shut up about him. That's what I wonder about.
Popcorn, do you have anymore Ray jingles?
Ray my advice to you is let these people talk to each other when they dont have you to write about this blog will dissappear.
