US Senate passes out public option reform bill

TPM Media has a post here about the Senate bill and Senate Majority Leader Reid's remarks.
Senate Shumer called it the best compromise in this TPM post
I am happy to see the Democrats get behind a public option. The House will definitely pass a public option and now with one in the Senate it should get to the President's desk.
As always, the devil is ...

... in the details. I wrote about the public option here and here.
In this post, I pointed out that the current system is bankrupting the country

Live from the SB Meeting.

Three members of the board want to reduce beach stickers to $35. YAY!!!! Lara is making her best case to keep the beach fee as high as possible in order to retain the quasi-private beach status that we currently have. Those $70 current beach fees really keep the working class riff-raff off of the beach that certain people have worked so hard to commandeer. With $35 fees, some people might not get to have their favorite parking spot on really hot Sundays.

The Park Board is still hoping to get a revolving fund. FUHGET ABOUT IT!

That would be a travesty for this country!

Forget about what the people want. The elitist Democrats are killing this country.

The park board wants to keep the high sticker prices because they want a revolving account. A new little fiefdom so it can have lots of money to spend on what it wants instead of having to give it to the town.
A certain SB member along with some residents, want the price to remain high so they don't have to share the beach with the undesirables. We all know when we talk about the beaches, the beach we are really talking about is Round Hill.

With all due respect to mr or mrs. Anon. I think you should look up the meaning elitist."Elitism is the belief or attitude that those individuals who are considered members of the elite—a select group of people with outstanding personal abilities, intellect, wealth, specialized training or experience, or other distinctive attributes.

With that in mind your wealthiest individuals are in the Republican party...ie Exxon/Mobil. So to speak of the Democrats as elitists is flattering, but maybe you should look at the GOP. Their spokesman(Limbaugh)wanted to buy an entire NFL team. 900 million dollars. Now thats elitist.

Over 70% of Americans want the public option. The only reason you do not want one is because FOX NEWS and the Republican party doesn't want it and Glenn Beck has a vice on your thought process.

What is a travesty is the fact that health care costs are rising and the republican party didn't do anything about it for the 6 years they were the majority.

the only reason why they are voicing their opinion now is simply to COMPETE with the democrats.

A conservative person is cautious, advocates for less government intrusion, and protect the constitution.
A liberal person is less cautious, advocates for more government intrusion, and protect the constitution. I'm a person who wants our government to protect us from domestic and foreign enemies. I don't want liberal or conservative U.S. supreme court judges. As set forth in the constitution, I want supreme court judges, who enforces our rights. Any other judgments should be left to the states, not the U.S. Courts.
Socialism, ownership of the means of production and distribution of wealth by production rather than by individuals. A political movement for establishing such a system.
Health care programs should be left to the states, not the federal government. As it applies to state health care, if a persons constitutional rights are violated, the U.S. Court should consider the merits of the case.
The U.S. Government has a roll in providing certain needs, but they must be limited to the constitution.
The distribution of wealth is not one of them. We enjoy a wealth of rights/freedom. This country is heading in the wrong direction. I don't blame any one political party, I blame the people who have never worn their countries uniform, or witnessed what our country has gone through, to protect these rights/freedom.
Before we all turn this country into a socialistic form of government, you had better understand what this all means. If national health care isn't part of the constitution, it doesn't belong in the U.S. Senate or U.S. Congress, it belongs with the states.
By the way, have you taken notice that the price of gasoline is rising? Air planes flying into tall buildings will get your attention, people jumping from burning buildings will make you turn away, but the truth be told, we have much more to worry about then what is being discussed in Washington. Where is our freedom of the press, or is it control of the press/Obarma.
Mr. Prez, while you are bobbing from state to state, I hope you have someone watching the terrorist.

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have approved.

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 10 months -- so you'll have three years and two months to come up with an answer.

Democrats, ah you gotta love em'.

Dave, if the federal government was only limited to the constitution, we would have to eliminate Public schools, eliminate medicare, eliminate social security.

The Constitution is a living document, some people may not agree. This is my interpretation that if the constitution was not living we would stuck in the 18th century. Times change and the perspectives of the constitution need to change with the times.

Well I'll tell you what Bush did do he allowed the Bin Laden family to leave the country when no other Americans were allowed to fly, ANYWHERE.

George Bush spent thousands to fly to China to WATCH the Olympics, President Obama flew to Copenhagen to try and get them here, yet the conservatives cried about that nonsense.

George Bush also filled the dept of Interior with a corrupt woman, who made a deal with Shell, to gain oil exploration sites and then resigned from her post only to get a very lucrative job with that very comapany 9 months later.

As for Czars, Bush had them too, and he had more of them

Bush shut out MSNBC in the later years of his Presidency, and also got a very accomplished women FIRED for asking him too tough of a question

As I said, here we go, AGAIN.

Truthfully, do we have to do battle over presidents and political parties?? Is anyone going to change his or her mind?? Could we stick to the subject of the blogs??

I respect and understand that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, BUT, with some posters it will never stop.

Whose mind will change? No one's, likely.

wrong AGAIN Ray. Limbaugh would have had a minority position in the football team until he was railroaded out by the lying thieves named Jackson and Sharpton. He was never going to purchase a 900 million dollar team - perhaps the democrat BILLIONAIRE George Soros will step up.

Thank God for Joe Lieberman. He might just be able to stop this nonsense. Afterall, the Dems kicked him the gonads when he won reelection as an independant.

GO JOE.
