Unofficial agenda for Finance Committee meeting tonight

Preliminary agenda:

1. Reserve fund transfer
2. Revenue update from Ed
3. Discussion of the overall budget strategy for one-time revenues
We could perhaps give the CIP committee an idea of the amount of money we would like to put in that direction.
4. Discussion of the overall budget strategy for recurring revenues.
5. Preliminary list of articles (Ed)
6. Plan overall schedule of agendas
7. I would also like to have an executive session.

See you there

Bill, While watching recent select board meetings, I have noticed that there is a new process requiring permitting for people having things like weddings at their home. As a town meeting member, I don't recall voting on this. Could you explain how these new regulations came to be? What is their purpose? What exactly are the regulations?

Bill, This is private property. I also would love an explanation on this. This is big brother at it's worse. Please let people have such events as weddings, parties in their own back yard. I would like to see this regulation, and I am sure, a fee goes with it, dropped.

I don't know what triggered the request for a permit. The gathering that was presented to the Select Board on Monday is a large one, 180 guests. Perhaps the permit request was generated because they have an outside vendor to serve drinks or a police detail.

It would be helpful for people to know what the process was for implementing this new regulation. Nobody seems to know how these new taxes, er, I mean fees, came to be.

I recall a law which states: Whenever there is a gathering at a private place of more than 50 people, a permit and a policeman should be present. Not sure, it may be a safety issue. Most people do not do this and if the party is quiet and nothing happens, fine, BUT, if there is an unfortunate situation that occurs...this could be an issue.
