Budget processes explained and more

Some time ago I posted about how the town arrives at its budget. You can find those posts here (town budget) and here (school budget). I posted on the tax levy and how your tax rate is set here. For an explanation of why our fiscal woes continue. ...

...look at this post. And to find out what I think we should do about it look at this post and this and this.

Too many things to click, but we just don't pay enough here for services, period. The quality of services leave some to be desired too.

If you read the posts I linked to, especially this one, you will find an explanation of why more revenue (taxes) does not solve the problem. It is not the case that an override will solve the situation. We have an override for this fiscal year and will be in the red next year.

Free oil anyone? Can't believe it.

Yep free oil, IF your below poverty line and run out of oil then you recieve a few days worth as a bridge until a government program kicks in to prevent you from freezing. Its some people's attitudes that cant be believed.

I liked Lenz's idea give them the oil to keep from freezing but make them work off the "loan" by volunteering in town.

People grow old at different ages. A 69 year old may seem great, but be demented. And a 88 year old may be great and can volunteer. A 95 year old may be too old. Perameters? Age/ability

parameters and who'll check up on their finances/ability etc.
