UMass Law School approved by Trustees

The Standard Times reports in this article that the Southern New England School of Law will become a part of the UMass system.
Great news for our town and UMass Dartmouth, I think.

Congratulations to Chancellor MacCormack and the UMass community!

Thank you, UMass Board of Trustees. You did the right thing despite enormous pressure from the private law schools in Boston.

I read in The Herald News today that some state reprentatives from around Amherst are thinking about filing a bill to prevent UMass from using ANY state money for Southern New England School of Law if it accepts the school as a gift. It's just one more potential blockade thrown up by the private law schools which are afraid of some competition. This, too, we will overcome. Maybe our reps should file a bill requiring UMass Amherst to pay taxes to the state and quit squandering scarce financial resources.
