Dias not running for re-election

Select Board member, Nat Dias, announced at last night's meeting that she would not seek another term on the board. Chairman Joe Michaud and Ms. Dias are the two members whose seats are up for the April 6th election. Mr. David Gonsalves of Fieldstone Lane has taken out papers to run for Ms. Dias' seat.
Mr. Michaud has taken out papers to run for re-election and has also announced his intention to run for State Representative from the 9th Bristol District. That seat is held by Mr. John Quinn who is resigning to run for Bristol County Sheriff against the incumbent, Mr. Tom Hodgson.
Nomination papers for town office, such as Select Board, must be taken out by Friday, February 12th, and must be returned by Tuesday, February 16th. A minimum of 50 registered voters of the town must sign the nomination papers.
In every town election, one third of the representative Town Meeting members from each precinct are elected. There are 39 members from each precinct, so 13 are elected each year. The dates for Town Meeting members nomination papers are the same as the above but only 20 voter signatures are needed. However, the 20 voters must reside in the precinct where the nomination is sought.

And here is the rest.

Good! One less Good Ol' Boy.
I think Walker should run! Less spending on schools is a good thing...especially when it doesn't go to the kids.

What does Barry Walker do for a living?

Anonymous said...

Barry eats foods,for living.

I sure would like to see Barry Walker run for slectman.

I would like to thank Nat Dias for her long service to the town. It was clear by her emotional goodbye last night that this town has been an important part of her life. Good luck to Nat as she opens a new chapter in her life.

She can't run too far!!

Why would someone ruin a post that should be a tribute to Nat Dias and her many years of service by trying to trash another town official? I guess some people think so little of themselves that they can only feel better by knocking others.

Welcome to the "bitching post"

That's Saul Raposo that comes on here and tries to make people stop checking this blog out. We all try to just ignore him.

Why do you think it's Saul? What has ever done to you?

oh thats right...he was in favor of something you were against...so you hold a grudge and try to defame his character.....WELCOME TO DEMOCRACY ....dope slap

Nat Dias ran into Dartmouth politics on top of a large wave of votes. Why did Nat run for selectmen?? For those who follow town politics, Nat ran for selectman because of the harbor master injustice. Yup...the good olde boys were sticking it to her husband, Arthur Dias our former harbor master who passed away. I'll always wonder why she ever teamed up with Bob Miller but politicians make strange bed fellows, so they say. Oh well, Nat has done the best she could considering the sad political board she sat with. Kenny Vincent, Bob Miller, Bob Carney, and whats her name. You've done a nice job and I'm proud. Thank you for taking the time to become a selectman.

The 3 candidates (so far) for the School Committee were collecting signatures on their nomination papers at town meeting last night. I believe one of the candidates should run for seat being vacated by Dias and told him so. I hope he does.

Who is running for School Committee?

John Nunes should run for selectman

Good luck to you and family. You made the right choice.

Thank you Nat, for your many years of dedicated service to our town. I know you love Dartmouth and served to help residents through difficult times. I do think that the current board works very well together. They can joke and even disagree without being nasty. I have enjoyed watching the current board on DCTV. Some very smart people!!

To old timer........you must invest in new glasses or new hearing aid because not all members are getting along. Joe Michaud and Bill Trimble are working toward making Dartmouth become a more fiscal conservative town, while Lara Stone is still attempting to understand why she ever ran for selectmen. Don't get me wrong about Stone she is a very nice person but should have run for the school committee. Mike Watson is the guy to watch. This educated fool is becoming compromised by Ken Vincent. Don't get me wrong, Watson is a smart talking dude but listens to too many people who have him by the short hairs. If a man is controlled by someone else thoughts than he is not a man.

Hey Eddy - you a mind reader? I think Mrs Stone is quite comfortable in her position as select person. Time to get over it.

Reread Eddy's comments on numerous posts throughout the blog...The guy is a more than a few cards short of a full deck. If I were Stone, I'd take it as a compliment that Eddy thinks she's unqualified.

Why is everybody picking on me??
I truly feel that Lara Stone is a very nice lady, mother, wife, and supporter of schools. I also consider Lara Stone to be well spoken, thoughtful, and educated. Personally, I feel she would serve the town best by becoming a school board member. In my opinion, school board members are mostly made up of left wing bleeding heart liberals, who want to spend as much money as possible to educate the uneducated and provide the highest salaries for those who teach, all this at the cost to the tax payers. The school board is a group of people who always seem to agree, to agree. Can you recall at any one time when a school committee person said, “No.”?? Well, forget that one, he didn't get re-elected.
Select board members are a different kind of animal. Most, if not all, have an agenda and the ego to go with it. I don't know how other voters feel, but I enjoy watching a group of people who don't always agree with each other. Some of you who criticize my postings are foolish to think that Lara Stone fits into this criteria of jungle survival. Allow me to give an example, four of the five selectmen had already made up their mind that wind turbines will be constructed along the Chase Road town owned land. Lara Stone was the only select person who didn't know how she would vote. As the junior selectman, she had deep concern for the opposition crowd that live along the affected Chase Road area. I'm sure she had many sleepless nights and thoughtful concerns that prompted her to visit homes and the people effected by the turbines. In the end, she voted for the turbines but at a what cost to her doubtful concerns.
The select board is the center board for all town action. Lara Stone always starts off by raising her hand and asking if she can speak. Lara is not sitting in a class room. She doesn't need to raise her hand or ask for permission to speak. Have you ever heard Mike Watson ask to speak, I don't think so....Joe Michaud doesn't have the problem, or Bill Trimble.
It's still time to resign from the select board and run for school committee, where everyone holds hands and have a sing-along. Doe, a female deer.........

I would like Nat Dias to comment on this letter signed by her on Oct 2.2009 in which she made net metering requests it's from another blog a few minutes ago :

Hi All ,

Ronald DiPippo, Ph.D. Chairman, Alternative Energy Committee Town of Dartmouth wears two hats when it comes to net metering .Ron DiPippo is also a Renewable Energy Consultant -Geothermal & Wind Specialist as stated on his own personal stationary .

Dr.DiPippo wrote a letter on October 2,2009 on his own personal stationary begging Shaela McNulty Collins Hearing Officer Department of Public Utilities One South Station Boston, MA 02110 . This letter refers to himself and the AEC members that agreed to make a personal request of the state agency .

Here is the request : " We encourage the DPU to specify a single, favorable Rate Class in its final Tariff"

I would like some input on this letter . Here are the people that signed that letter ,who must be the ones referred to as we :

Edward F. Iacaponi, Ex-Officio; Nathalie Dias, Kevern Joyce, Arthur Larrivee, Paul Lopes,
Raymond Medeiros, Roger Race, Saul Raposo and Joseph Sousa

A review of the letter shows it is written on Ron DiPippo personal stationary as a wind turbine consultant and the members of the Alternative Energy Committee went along with this . This letter shows that the AEC was working as pro wind turbine advocates while working for the Town of Dartmouth as AEC members to forward their own agenda . The letter should have been written and addressed by the Town of Dartmouth

Please review the letter ;

Ms. Dias has announced that she will not seek re-election. When do you think Nat could comment on the Oct 2 2009 letter concerning the wind mills .

http://www.env.state.ma.us/dpu/docs/electric/09-71/10509drthcom.pdf

If we are to make real strides toward achieving the Governor's and the ISO region’s renewable energy capacity goals, the Tariff needs to set the highest reasonable Rate Class for community wind and other eligible projects. Otherwise, we risk that most if not all of these projects will not be financially feasible, will be unable to get financing, and will never be built.

Thank you for your consideration of these comments. B r ,

Ronald DiPippo, Ph.D. Chairman, Dartmouth Alternative Energy Committee

Members of the Dartmouth Alternative Energy Committee: Edward F. Iacaponi, Ex-Officio; Nathalie Dias, Kevern Joyce, Arthur Larrivee, Paul Lopes, Raymond Medeiros, Roger Race, Saul Raposo and Joseph Sousa

UNTIL MRS. DIAS IS NO LONGER SEATED ON THE SELECT BOARD, WHICH WILL BE THE DAY IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE APRIL 6TH ELECTION, SHE IS STILL A SEATED MEMBER OF THE SELECT BOARD.

She is STILL ACCOUNTABLE to all of us as Dartmouth residents. She is STILL HELD to ACCOUNTABILITY.

If she takes her Board responsibilities seriously and is so dedicated to "the best interests" of Dartmouth, as we have heard her state on numerous occasions over the years, SHE SHOULD BE WILLING TO COMMENT ON THE LETTER IN QUESTION.

And no one interested in hearing her answers in the NAME OF ACCOUNTABILITY and TRANSPARENCY should excuse her from doing so.

That is the problem with many people: they have questions and they either do not ask them, or, if they do, they do not DEMAND ANSWERS and ACCOUNTABILITY.

You can call Town Hall for her phone number or any other contact information for her and any other town official (usually email, I would think) and you should receive it. You can look at the list of Town Meeting members on the Town website. There's addresses and in most cases, telephone numbers of each member listed. (Link to "town clerk" first and then continue from there.)

If you posted the question here, ask it of the individual(s) involved. JUST DO IT. You will be doing the rest of Dartmouth's residents a service.

That, I think, is the problem many times: we may have questions, but don't ask them, so things slide and sometimes some working for or in town get complacent and don't expect to be challenged on their actions. Could it ever happen, do you think, that things may not follow procedurally as they should? I would imagine that that might be a possibility, anywhere, anytime. Who's looking after the chickens if the door is open and the fox comes in?

Residents of this town need to close the doors and keep a sharper eye on the running of our town government. WE are the town, and WE either pay those working for us or elect them.

Make sure you repost your re post of the request for mrs Dias to answer yor questions. Why not pick up te phone or e-mail her directly if you have such a burning desire. Why not attend any AEC meetings if this interests you so much.

Is part of your lawsuit based on the type of stationery the AEC chairman used to send a letter? That should be worth a lawyer's and judge's time.
