My wife and kids showed up for this event. Before I go any further I supported DG in the last election. However my wife spoke so highly of Lara Stone and how she went around introducing herself to all the people that attended this event. To tell you the truth I thought the whole thing was silly at first, but then I realized it is small steps like this that will bring the community of Dartmouth back together again as one. I know Lara Stone did not coordinate this whole event, but I would like to complement her for her part in it.
Was Lara instrumental in any way in bringing Fox 25 to Dartmouth?
I do not think so.
All I know is she made their visit nice and that is important.
I'm sorry, but I'm waiting for the other shoe to fall. Schmoozing, making nice, and being hospitable is good form and courtesy, especially if one is a Select Board member. It's called politicking.
Ms. Stone is clearly demonstrating her "soft side" and using her "people skills" to her advantage. Nice when the occasion is pleasant, and it is to her benefit. Wonder if she would have come out at all if she had lost the election?
It'll be a different story when she feels it is time for us to step up to the plate, in her opinion, at least, and cough up some more money.
Sorry if I'm mistrustful, as well, of Ms. Stone's "soft side" and intentions.
I understand.
Dartmouth will always have differences of opinion on issues. Events like these are an opportunity for everyone to play nice and that is a good thing. What I would like to see is that everyone get treated with dignity and respect regardless of their views or personal traits.
