Souter retiring! Casts Specter news in a new light.

Via Blue Mass group and NPR is news that Justice Souter will retire upon appointment of his successor.
Brings a whole new aspect into the switch by Senator Specter this week ...

... by reducing the possibility of a filibuster to block the appointment. Any thoughts on a good candidate. Perhaps a Hispanic Justice would be a good choice. What do you think?

We need a good solid center-right justice to protect the rights of the innocent and prosecute the abortion doctors.

How about a person with knowledge and experience in constitutional law? The Supreme Court is too important to play quota. The most highly qualified person should be nominated.

I don't know what anonymous could be thinking! Why would a center-left president, who believes that abortion, should be rare and legal appoint a right leaning candidate who would outlaw abortion? What Obama should do is appoint a woman, perhaps a black woman to round out the court a little bit. Also I would like to see a non appelate court judge appointed. I know - Anita Hill!

Maybe because abortion is morally wrong! The President can not be a christian and believe in Abortion rights. The two do not go hand in hand.
You obviously don't have children.

The litmus test is to look at your children and honestly say you would be able to abort them out of convenience. If you can, then you have no soul. That is what most people are doing. I believe there are extenuating circumstances that should be considered. The majority of abortions are done for convenience.

Please, let's not go there. That's all we need, controversy about abortion.
