Curt Brown has an article in the Standard Times today and the editoral board opined yesterday about Mr. Gagne's last day as our town Executive Administrator.
Mr. Gagne is a hardworking and talented individual who has served the town for a long time. I want to thank him here for his service and I wish him well. I like Mr. Gagne and it was a difficult decision for me to vote not to renew his contract. In the final analysis, I came to believe ...
... that it was necessary to change leadership in order to change the functions and culture of the town government. Mr. Gagne has many strengths as an administrator and some weaknesses. I will keep my own counsel for now on what those things are.
I firmly believe I made the right decision for the right reasons.
As the old saw says, time will tell.

To Bill
You did the right thing by not renewing Mikes contract. Mike will find his way. The day will come when Mike will remember what he didn't do for Dartmouth and this will make the differance in the world.
Oppp's and this will make ALL the difference in the world.
I think that all 3 SB members made a BIG mistake getting rid of Mike. I can't wait for the next SB meeting to see how Michaud conducts the meeting without Mike. Whenever there seems to a question to be answered no matter what the subject Mike has the answer. I hope you 3 haven't bitten off your nose to spite your face. I don't know how Ed is going to do both jobs for any amount of time. He has enough on his plate with the financial fiasco going on. Are you 3 going to get rid of Ed in June? He has the same sweetheart deal as Mike.
Also, I think Michaud was very arrogant and mean spirited to wear the Support Kevin Lee sign on his jacket. I suppose he thought it was another one of his idiotic idea of a joke. He seems to try to be a clown. So far you 3 have ruined two lives of very respected people from Dartmouth. Who is next????
"Support Kevin Lee"!!! Michaud wearing that is like Trimble performing for the library, disingenuous at best.
Mr. Trimble has posted several times on this blog that Dartmouth has dedicated, hard working people, but that doesn't change the fact that the town needs to change the way they deliver services. Our expenses keep growing! The leaders of each department know that. I think Joe, Diane, and Bill are thinking about the 'big picture'(the whole town) instead of just thinking about each department. Dartmouth department heads must start thinking like a team. Instead they are defending their group. This will not help Dartmouth in the long term.
They're systematically ruining Dartmouth.
You've got to be kidding me. Proir to Gilbert, Michaud and Trimble the selectboard was run by a fool. Dartmouth is better off with out MIKE...Miller, Leduc,or Vincent. Mike took care of the special interest groups. Seniors, libraries, Kevin Lee, open space, DNRT and save the farms. Minutes were not kept during closed sessions, special attorneys hired by the town to protect certain department heads, selectmen never voted as a board on certain issues.
Diane Gilbert, Bob Michayd and Bill trimble put a stop the all the above. Just who do you think your fooling?? Mike was inside the chicken coup, along with the fox and all the above mentioned. It's nice to find honest people who want to serve our town.
Our tax burden was low/ our services/quality of schools/ morale was high. They are systematically pulling apart all that was good to satisfy a loud minority that only care about a FEW extra dollars in their pocket.
VOTERS' SCORECARD ON THE FIVE SELECT BOARD MEMBERS WHO SOLD OUT OUR TOWN:
Bob Miller - THROWN OUT OF OFFICE
Jreck LeDuc - THROWN OUT OF OFFICE
Kathleen Horan-McLean - THROWN OUT OF OFFICE
Bob "Wake me when they start talking about the Pasky" Carney - POLITICALLY DEAD (caught asleep)
Nathalie "I promise I wasn't there" Dias - POLITICALLY DEAD (caught in a lie)
There is a price to pay for selling out your town.
I guess the author is so pleased with his work on the preceding post it will be posted on every thread. LOL

JOE ..I want a PUBLIC APOLOGY for that bad taste of what you call humor...by putting a support Kevin Lee stcker on...this is not a laughing matter...many people were there to support him...and mocked them...PATHETIC to say the LEAST
The sticker that Joe put on was not a support Lee sticker, it was a no more slander sticker. It could easily be argued that Joe is the one getting slandered here, not Kevin Lee. Among his other contributions to the town, Mr. Lee is always good for a public relations dog and pony show that only drags us into the gutter. I wish the lunatic fringe Lee supporters would stop already. Stop the madness!!!
Kevin Lee made an error in judgment.
It has been corrected. End of story.
Fall River laid off 149 people today. New Bedford is also laying off large numbers of police officers, firefighters and other municipal workers. Freetown is closing their library. Governor patrick has cut local aid to cities and towns. He's also proposing a huge increase in the gas tax. Five highly respected Massachusetts BUSINESS GROUPS (including the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation) are pushing for a higher gas tax increase than what Governor Patrick is proposing.
Look around you. The fiscal issues facing Dartmouth were not the fault of Mike Gagne. What is haoppening in Dartmouth is happening EVERYWHERE! Or, do you believe Gagne is responsible for the myriad of fiscal difficulties facing cities and towns all across the state? Do you believe Gagne is to blame for the state budget crisis?
Our townspeople have been fools to follow Michaud, Gilbert and Trimble.
In order to deflect what one's true intentions and feelings are, you state what people want to hear then do the exact opposite.
1 - "I feel that employee XYZ is a very good individual and does their job well."
2 - "I make a motion we fire/terminate/not renew employee XYZ because we need to go in a new direction"
3- "I feel strongly about my decision about employee XYZ, but you know, employee XYZ deserves out thanks for being there all those years of service to the Town." Employee XYZ was a nice person and very dedicated to the Town."
4:01PM -- "We want to go in a different direction" is a very polite way for the majority of the Select Board to say: "We don't like what you're doing. We don't want you around any longer."
Instead of publicly humiliating the employee, the board members say nice, innocuous things so the employment separation is smooth and so the employee whose contract is terminated can find another job.
This happens all the time in the private sector and the public sector.
You don't really expect them to publicly list all of the underlying reasons for the decision to terminate the contract, do you?
To Anon 3:32, When you finish your meltdown maybe you could explain your logic. I think everyone agrees that the economy is in the toilet everywhere. It is not just Dartmouth. Michael Gagne has not been proactive in taking this town in a new direction. We will continue to slide further in the hole unless we start making some important changes in this town. I take my hat off to Joe Michaud, Diane Gilbert, and Bill Trimble for starting the process to get Dartmouth moving in the right direction. We have been wasting time for 6 years at least! Joe, Diane and Bill are trying to partner with other towns and find ways to deliver services so that the town doesn't have to keep going to the taxpayers for overrides. The last board thought the answers were overrides, and life time contracts. What a mess they left us with.
Bill, Do you have any comments on Anon 507PM from March 2?
