Mike Watson to run against Carney and Gracie

Curt Brown's blog entry here reports that Mike Watson of Slocum Farm Drive has taken out nomination papers to run for Select Board for Bob Carney's seat. Frank Gracie had previously declared his intention to run for the seat.

Mike's public service resume consists of being a little league umpire and that's about it. He lives three doors down from Carney's puppet, Ray Medeiros. If people vote for him the result will be three more years of Carney. Mike, please drop out of the race. Dartmouth deserves better than Carney. Carney has opposed every single progressive change put forth by the new Select Board in the past year.

Ray and his friend Mike are spoilers. I think Ray wanted to run but so many people were sick of listening to him vent on Curt Brown;s blog, he probably thought he'd lose. So, he got his friend Mike to run. I'm voting for Frank, because I don't want three more years of Carney.

this is Ray Medeiros--- Mike and I are neighbors..we have talked maybe 10 times since he moved in to my neighborhood. I found out about his candidacy through the Town Clerk's office. He is my homeowner assoc. trustee...that is it. He is a great guy but Dont sling MUD at him because you dont agree with ME. Ask him his views..he may not even have the same views as I do.. If that is the case you guys on this Blog will look foolish for making comments that you are not educated about.

Come on people. Lets get serious. Several people have come forth to run for Select Board. We are at a very critical time in Dartmouth and it calls for serious people with progressive ideas and solutions. The voters need to start hearing from the candidates. The voters need to know where these candidates stand on the issues. It is not too much to ask to want to be able to make an informed decision.

You have to understand... Mike's not sanctioned by the Hathaway Road Gang. As such, he's a problem.

To anon 1:21 whats yours public service resume? besides bitching on a crappy blog? at least he's stepping up to the plate. the only plate you step up to is 9 inches across.

Datmouth is a TAX haven...look at the DNRT and you will understand that many of our affluent people and their puppets the hathaway rd GANG if a person owns 15 acres of land they could easily donate 10 acres to the DNRT and open it up to the public relatively scarce amount of time and now the tax burden on our affluent neighbors is cut DRASTICALLY..this is the time to STOP giving DNRT land and start selling the land to increase REVENUE

9000 acres of LAND is in the TAX HAVEN of Dartmouth we are the TOP 10% in th COMMONWEALTH for land conservation...I understand that some conservation is needed but when we look at the DNRT map it's as if the southern part of Dartmouth is more precious than the NORTHERN I see a conspiracy.
take 3000 acres of the DNRT and our revenue probablem would disappear and we still have 6000 acres to conserve

Saving farms lowers taxes by not increasing the need for services, especially schools. The worst thing we can do is developments like Bob Carney's Cross Roads Apartments. Those are the kind of developments that eat up resources and fatten the wallets of the few like Carney. Not to mention that in the master plan survey, conserving the rural character for quality of life was shown to be a top priority of the people in town.

to farmhand, yes farm do not use the town services ,but when they are placed under the DNRT they do not contribute to the town either

I would rather haves farms than Bob Carney's Cross Road Apartments any day and so would about 90% of the rest of the people.

and don't forget DNRT's trusty motto "Cows don't need schools!"
Save the cows!

to 12:12 I hope you dont complain that the Town doesn't have money. Also I understand a farm being saved IF IT IS FARMED... alot of these so called Farms haven't been used for that purpose for YEARS I would propose if a parcel of land hasn't been farmed in 5 years ,that the owners NEED TO PAY TAXES on the whole lot, not just a portion.

Anonymous said...

I agree. Then Bob Carney can do some more low income housing on these parcels and fatten his wallet while filling our town up with developments that strain our public safety and school resources. There is nothing I want to do more than lower my quality of life so that Carney can fatten up. After all, he is my all powerful Budha and I will follow him to the gates of eternal bliss. Another Cros Roads Apartment complex please. We must feed the Budha in order to find eternal happiness.

I see you intelligence escapes you

Anonymous said...

yes , again you are correct. Obviously you have been Bob Budha Carney's disciple much longer than me. If only I could find a way to feed Budha another Cross Road apartment complex so that his wallet will be fat enough. Then he will see fit to impart some of his great wisdom upon me as he has done for you.

If we all did alittle research we all will find out how much land is considered Farm and under the DNRT but is not actually being USED for that purpose. a 4000acres could house 7000 houses on about .4 acres each and have land to provide roads and sidewalks. and at the market rate of 2,000 a year in taxes that would be 14,000 that the town didnt have. 7000houses times 2000 ayear in taxes equals PROBLEM solved and we still have 5000 acres left for real Farms and conservation

Carney? nope just enlightened

Anonymous said...

I, like you, will do whatever Bob Budha Carney tells me in order to fatten his wallet so that he may be happy and enlighten me with his wisdom. I can only hope to someday be able to understand how decimating Dartmouth's rural character will increase my quality of life. How many more Carney Cross roads apartment complexes will I have to bring to fruition in order for the all powerful Budha to find it in his heart to enlighten me? I am willing to do anything for him. Do you think he would enlighten me if I get another person who knows nothing about how town business is conducted to run as a spoiler candidate. I am desperate to achieve your wisdom passed on from the great Budha Carney.

I didn't know Carney wanted to develop Dartmouth like that. I'll never vote for him again.

pull the curtain and see who's pulling strings. I see Demello and the hathaway henchmen ..

anonymous 9:40. You forgot to include the impact research for developing. There is a cost to developing as well as the revenue that may be obtained. I think if you do a little research you will find the costs to communities exceed the taxes brought in. Barnstable did just such an analysis prepared by Tischler & Associates, Inc. It is worth a look to dispel some of the beliefs that developing the land is the best option for creating new revenue. You might also want to consider that it won't be long before Dartmouth reaches build-out and then what? If you're expenses continue to exceed your revenues you will never be able to keep up no matter how much you build. Putting aside personal feelings about the character of this town, developing the land as a source of revenue just doesn't make sense.

I wonder if the Town taxpayer paid for the infrastructure development for the Target complex...i know that sometimes ,that would be used as an incentive to bring in business.

if we can raise our tax base and keep our services in check i dont see how that would occur. Buliding houses for families is not a one shot revenue it is recurring. I think if we develpoed only 4000 acres ..that would leave PLENTY 5000 acres to conserve which is outstanding. I dont want a crossroads housing project, I am talking single family housing. on a nice piece of land on almost a half acre of land. We need to increase our available tax base..not just cutting our services...WE need both.. not just one..that is why both sides of the SB need to come together and work this out. Collaborative thinking gets better results

Anonymous said...

Please read the study and you will see how. The costs for infrastructure, services, schools etc. outweigh the revenues. How can Westport who has a very small commercial base and less development maintain lower taxes? We are at MNSS as Westport is. Geographically we are very similar and they have conserved far more land than we have.

Anonymous said...

I refuse to listen to you and your actual research. I must fatten the Budha!!! It is the only way to my salvation. Praise to Bob Budha Carney. We must have more of his Cross roads apartment complexes. Budha! Budha! Budha!

Anonymous said...

Are you for real? We can't keep our spending balanced with our revenue now. You want to add more development and more services required? That is exactly what has made the problem worse in the last ten years. Not to mention that I live near the commercial district and the traffic is already horrible.

Anonymous said...

We are not westport have not been for over 30 years. If you want to live in Westport move there.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know Mike Watson's position on the issues? Anyone heard from Lara Stone yet?

Anonymous said...

Lara may be a plant to split the vote against Miller...She was put in place by Dianne Trimble and Michaud..especially Michaud.

The 7,000 house idea just doesn't make any sense at all! That's 14,000 more students for our schools! 14,000 more cars on our roads! 28,000 more people in our town...all demanding services. Do you really think that 2,000 per house per year is going to pay for this? No way! We would be in a much bigger hole! (However, if you really want to go ahead and add 7,000 houses, have at it. You don't need to take away any protected land to do it, either. There is actually more unprotected land left in Dartmouth than there is protected land)

You CANT be serious...Bob Carney has NOTHING TO DO WITH CROSSROADS APARTMENTS. He has worked tirelessly for this town and in these times you need someone that will tell you not what you want to hear but what needs to be said. My father has tremendous integrity and if you have the guts to post slanderous comments please have the guts to post your name or at least call him to discuss it.
Bill Carney, yes Bob's son.
